SUNLIGHT - Sun exposure to your skin is so vital for getting your Vitamin D, which aids in maintaining healthy bones, teeth and a robust immune system. Of course, wearing a high level SPF is crucial, even on cloudy days - so do remember to throw a tube into your bag/car/pocket! Sunlight is also natures way of regulating your nervous system and exposure to it will stimulate the production of serotonin, which will lift your mood into a happy state naturally! Sunlight also alleviates SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and will help you leave your winter hibernation phase behind and step into the next season.

NUTRIENTS - While everyone's path with their fuel will look different, the one thing that can be universally agreed upon is that balance is key. Making sure you are getting enough fibre into your system for digestion, protein and iron for strength and endurance, and plenty of plants to give vitamins and energy. Make a list of balanced meals that you enjoy and are easy to cook in line with your lifestyle, then meal plan for the week ahead and prep in advance as much as you can. Your best friends are the slow cooker and the freezer! Batch cook, batch prep, free up your time for living life!

MOVEMENT - Find what works for you and COMMIT! Make sure you are hitting 5 movements a week for at least 30 minutes, remembering of course to take your rest days. If 2024 really is going to be your year then you are going to have to hold yourself accountable. If the gym is your thing, find a gym buddy and make sure that you show up for each other. Loved playing sport as a child? Find a local team to join, let your inner child play! Prefer something a bit more gentle? Step back from your work environment and take yourself for a walk on your lunch break to get your steps in. Whatever you do, just do it consistently!

WATER - Buy a water bottle you love, and make sure that thing stays with you at all times! Did you know the human body is actually made up of 60% water? We should all be drinking around 8 glasses (2L) every single day. Water is not only crucial for survival and body repair, but it also can greatly improve your skin, your ability to focus, and keep those dehydration headaches away! This habit usually slips in Spring and Summer when our lives get a little more busy, but the best way to combat this is to keep reminding yourself to drink! You can do this with post it notes around the house, calendar reminders, you can even download apps on your phone specifically to remind you to drink up! Also, whenever you order a coffee or go out to eat, just ask for a glass of tap on the side and make sure you finish it before leaving. Keeping extra bottles in your bag and car is helpful too, as this will prompt you from every angle. The more reminders you have, the more likely it will become a habit that sticks.

SELF LOVE - It doesn't always feel very productive to take some time for yourself, but it's actually one of the best habits you can get into and it will pay off in both the short and long term. How can you pour from an empty cup? Investing in yourself first will mean you have more to give out to others, and more energy to give to the things you are passionate about. Self love and mindset really is everything, and creating positive routines like the ones above is the best way to get yourself into that good headspace every single day. Carve out some 'you' time in your calendar every day to speak verbally or write out some positive affirmations, gratitutes, or 5 things you like about yourself. This is going to feel GOOD, we promise! After all...how you gonna win, if you aint right within?
